Residents are being asked to “be careful and cautious for their own safety” as the marine shooting range in Southeast Mesaieed practices with live ammunition from now until the end of the month, the Qatar’s Armed Forces General Command has announced.

For the majority of that time, the altitude will be in a range of 10,000 to 30,000 feet. However, from Jan. 20 to 24, it will be at 9,000 feet, QNA reports.

The shooting is supposed to take place between 6am and 1pm, but a Doha News reader who lives in Mesaieed said she was awoken at 3am by a “thunderous sound which was loud and terrifying.” 

She added that the house, windows and doors of her home shook as she spotted a “brightly lit flying thing far far away but the sound was as if it was just about to fall on my house!”
