The price of Marlboro and other Philip Morris brand cigarettes (L&M, Merit) rose by one riyal yesterday after a notice from the distributor, Ali Bin Ali Group.

The Peninsula reports that the move was not expected by retailers, but the newspaper’s anonymous distributor source says the price rise is due to international pressures, rather than local ones.

Marlboros now 9 QAR, whereas Merit and L&M packs cost 7 QAR. Notice to Davidoff smokers: You remain unaffected, for now.
