Work has resumed on a massive shopping center west of Education City after a fire forced the evacuation of some 14,000 staff and contractors on Saturday, officials behind the project say.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blaze, the Mall of Qatar said in a statement. An official declined to say if the fire damage would cause the shopping center’s scheduled Aug. 23 opening date to be postponed.
