Doha police are investigating a burglary/murder following the death of an 82-year-old Qatari woman on Saturday, local Arabic-language newspapers have reported.

The woman’s driver alerted police of the crime, which took place in New Salata, around 4am Saturday, through a 999 phone call saying that two expat men had broken into their home.

The Peninsula reports:

When policemen reached there, they found the woman lying on the floor dead with blood oozing from her head.

The maid told the police that two burglars had barged into the house at around 3:40am and had hit the deceased with an iron rod in the head which led to her death…

A team of investigators is carrying out a probe and forensic report is being awaited as that would pinpoint if the woman died after being hit in the head or fell down and suffered injuries in her skull.
