Cairo police have held a Qatari man after his Indonesian maid plunged to her death from the fourth floor apartment they were staying in, local newspaper Al-Sharq reports.

The maid was reportedly trying to escape with her bag when she fell off the balcony. However, the circumstances of her death are still under investigation and an autopsy will be conducted, the newspaper said.

The Qatari sponsor apparently also told police that he used to lock the doors and windows to prevent her from running away.
