A fire broke out upstairs at the Sana shopping complex in the Umm Ghuwailina area of Doha late last night, witnesses and officials report.
Local Arabic newspaper Al Sharq first tweeted about the fire around 12:45am, followed by acknowledgement of the blaze by Qatar’s Ministry of Interior some 15 minutes later.
Witnesses said the fire was upstairs at the shopping complex’s kids play area, Doha Toys Town, with authorities locking down the surrounding area as they struggled to contain the blaze:

The Ministry of Interior said there were no immediate reports of injuries, given that management had evacuated the complex immediately. But Civil Defense apparently had to contend with thick smoke and were only able to get the fire under control an hour and a half or so later:

It isn’t yet clear what caused the blaze, or to what extent the fire has damaged the old amusement center.
