Motorists heading to Hamad International Airport (HIA) over the weekend may have to factor in some extra time as a busy stretch of F-Ring Road will once again see temporary closures starting Friday, March 18.
A section of the road around Air Force Interchange will close in two phases overnight for 10 days to enable works on the nearby Red Line Doha Metro project.
Three lanes will be closed on F-Ring Road, just after the Air Force Interchange (with  Al Mater Street/Al Wakrah Road), from March 18 to March 22.
This means that all traffic bound for the airport should turn right at the junction on to Al Wakrah Road, then left onto Ras Abu Aboud Street/G Ring Road.
One service lane on 209 Street, heading westbound away from the airport, will remain open, Qatar Rail said in an announcement.
Next week, from March 23 until March 27, the eastbound and westbound main carriageways and the westbound lanes of 209 Street will be closed.
Motorists can use 209 Street to head to the airport, while a service road will remain open in the opposite direction.
The closures will be from 11:30pm until 4:30am on weekdays and from 1am until 11am on Fridays.
A number of temporary closures have been in place since November, as Qatar Rail advances on works for the Red Line metro, which will have an elevated track operating nearby.
