Cosplay and a crowd at the first AnimeQTR event
We missed the anime & cosplay at VCU-Q last Thursday, but Jo has this great report of the event, which apparently drew something of crowd, and got the attention of Japan’s ambassador to Qatar.

Picture overload + report of AnimeQTR Event last Thursday 😀
It was fantastic, it was really great seeing all the anime/manga fans, cosplayers and Japan enthusiasts come together in Doha for the first time. It’s the first ever anime/manga/cosplay convention in Qatar, which was put together by a local group of otakus – some of which are VCU students and alumni. It was held at our school, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the ambassador of Japan came and supported the event.
A lot more people came than we expected — the Atrium was packed in the first few hours!
Here’s my Mari Illustrious Makinami cosplay (Evangelion 2.0) that I quickly put together in a week ^^; I opted for a dark red/maroon-ish wig for her – I think it gives a nice contrast to the blue headband and green tie, and it matches with the skirt and leggings. Her hair is actually brown, but it has a shade of red in some pictures, and I’ve seen many cosplayers go for red and I think it looks better~
Yes, I may have made the necktie a bit too short ^^; I’ll make another one when I have the time.
I’m doing this exact same pose in every single photo I’m in >___< So just be warned, I’m pretty sure you’ll get tired of it ^^;
My awesome brothers, as Bao from King of Fighters and Reno from Final Fantasy VII respectively. Bao sewed his costume from scratch all by himself!
