Famous South African comedian Trevor Noah will perform in Qatar for the first time on Feb. 4, organizers have announced.
Noah, host of The Daily Show, will join several other comedians in performing at the Doha Comedy Festival that runs from Feb. 2 to Feb. 4.
The first night of the festival will feature Arabic-speaking comedians such as Nemr, Wonho Chung and Mohanad Al-Hattab.
Feb. 3 meanwhile has been dubbed “Khaleeji night,” bringing together comedians from across the Gulf, including Bader Saleh, Ahmad Al-Shammari and Bashar Al-Jazzaf.
Noah will perform on the final night of the festival, alongside British comedian Paul Zerdin, who won America’s Got Talent. “The Qatari Guy” Hamad Al-Amari will open the show that night.
Of the 15 comedians featured in the festival, however, none are women.
Tickets cost QR120 to QR995 per night and are on sale now at Virgin Megastore outlets and online here. The shows are for those 13 years and older.
Shop Qatar
The comedy shows are part of Shop Qatar, the country’s first monthlong shopping festival.
Organized by the Qatar Tourism Authority, it kicks off this weekend and aims to woo tourists with discounts on airfare, hotels and merchandise.
There will also be fireworks next weekend and entertainment that includes the Broadway musical Cats.
