For those who aren’t already avoiding Civil Defense Roundabout, there’s another new closure taking effect this weekend that could affect you.

Effective this weekend, the stretch of Mohammed Bin Thani St. between Civil Defense and Medical City junctions will be shut in two phases, Ashghal said in a statement:

• The road will be closed westbound (heading away from the Corniche) from now tomorrow (Saturday) morning; and
• The road will close eastbound from Sept. 10 until Monday morning (Sept. 12).

The closures were initially supposed to take place last week, but were postponed.

They come as Ashghal races to wrap up construction in the area and transform the R/A into a signalized junction before school starts on Sept. 18.
