As the world anticipates the birth of its 7 billionth person on Monday, the BBC is running an interactive feature with some fun facts based on statistics from the UN Population Fund.
Among them:
With an influx of more than 500 people a day, including some 50 daily births and 20 immigrants arriving an hour, Qatar is the world’s fastest growing country, while Moldova is the fastest shrinking country.
Some 15,347 people are born every hour. Life expectancy around the world ranges from 45.9 (Central African Republic) to 82.7 (Japan). (The average life expectancy in Qatar is 77.9 years.)
Check out the graphic – you can even put in your birth date to find out, of the people alive that day, what number person you were on the day you were born and where you placed on the larger scale of recorded human history.

An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Qatar has 500 births a day.Â
