Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced that it will begin “upgrade works” on the Jaidah flyover in the Musheireb area of Doha on Jan. 29.
The construction work will be carried out in two phases, with phase one entailing the closure of the eastbound lane of the bridge heading from the Ramada intersection toward the Electricity intersection for two weeks.
Once that’s completed, phase two would see the closure of the westbound lane of the flyover for a further two weeks starting Feb. 15.
As for the aim of the work, Ashghal explains:
“The scope of maintenance works will include replacing the asphalt layer over the flyover as well as improving the structure to accommodate the increased demand of travelers in the area. The works will result in improved roads and streamlined traffic movement in the area.”
While work is ongoing, all traffic will be routed through the roundabout underneath the bridge. Ashghal adds that road signs have been setup to offer clear directions to commuters.
