Qatar’s Year of Culture 2025 fall season will celebrate Argentina and Chile with a programme of art, music, sport, and community events.
Opening remarks from the Argentinian and Chilean embassies set the tone for the Year of Culture 2025 fall season, which blends creativity, sport, and community engagement.
Celina Cirilo, Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires of Argentina, highlighted recent successes such as LATINOAMERICANO, Qatar’s first major Latin American art showcase, and the Kalila wa Dimna exhibition in Buenos Aires, calling them powerful examples of culture building bridges between nations.
“We’re especially looking forward to the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra’s upcoming performance at Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, as well as a series of community events that will bring people together here in Doha,” Cirilo said.
Alejandro Sharif Chacoff Perez, Trade Attaché from the Chilean Embassy, stressed ProChile’s role in promoting Chile’s creative industries globally.
“We’ve come a long way in positioning our national creative industry around the world, prioritising creativity, skills, and talent,” he said, noting that Chile’s music, film, and art sectors generate over $82 million in exports and more than 2,000 jobs.
“Today, through food, film, art, and youth programmes, Chilean culture has found new audiences here in Qatar, and in return, we’ve had the chance to learn and grow through these shared experiences,” he concluded.
Ali bin Towar Al Kuwari, founder of CultuRide, announced a cycling journey from Buenos Aires through the Andes into Chile.
“Sport bridges nations,” he said. “We’ll begin in Buenos Aires, diving into the local culture, especially football, before continuing through the mountains to explore the beauty and spirit of Argentina and Chile.”
Avantika Nair of Generation Amazing revealed that Club Deportivo Palestino, a professional football club from Santiago, will visit Qatar to hold workshops and meet Palestinians evacuated from Gaza.
Hazem Idriss, Head of Community Service at Qatar Museums, thanked Chile and Argentina for enabling QM volunteers to travel to both countries. The journey will begin in Argentina this September with youth-led traditional dance collaborations and conclude in Chile with community mural projects.
Fatma Al Mannai of Qatar National Library announced a children’s storytelling series featuring storytellers from Chile and Argentina, paired with cooking and drawing activities inspired by the stories.

The fall season will also feature the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra’s South American tour, with performances at Buenos Aires’ Teatro Colón and concerts at home blending tango, folk, and Andean rhythms.
Public art will take centre stage as Chilean muralist Daniel Marceli and Argentinian artist Pablo Harymbat transform the Qatar Olympic Cycling Track tunnels into a colourful celebration of indigenous culture.
Culinary events Sabor Argentino and Sabor Chileno, along with film showcases and workshops, will further immerse audiences in the traditions of both countries.
The Years of Culture initiative, chaired by Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, builds lasting partnerships between Qatar and other nations, promoting respect, dialogue, and mutual understanding.
Each year’s programming is developed with cultural institutions, ministries, and partners from both countries, focusing on heritage, creative industries, social development, and innovation.
Organisers say the 2025 fall season will strengthen cultural ties and create lasting connections through shared stories, creativity, and heritage.
