HISTORY
Uruguay hosted the first FIFA World Cup in 1930 and won the tournament after defeating Argentina. In 1950, they won their second World Cup, and since then have become inconsistent in performance as they only qualified for thirteen World Cups. Tied to Argentina, Uruguay has won the Copa América 15 times, making it one of the most successful teams in the tournament’s history.
