The much anticipated Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha (JALCD), sister club of the world renowned Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York, has announced its opening line-up.
The $20 million club, which is located at the St. Regis, will host superstar jazz trumpeter (and JALC Director) Wynton Marsalis and his quintet for its grand opening on Oct. 4.
“In the spirit of jazz ambassadors – Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Dave Brubeck, and Dizzy Gillespie – we continue the legacy of bridging cultures around the world through Jazz at Lincoln Center Doha, the first Lincoln Center branded venue outside of New York City,” says Marsalis.
“Opening this club enables us to extend the joys of jazz to a broader audience. We’re thrilled that Mr. Omar Alfardan shares our vision of music as a way to find common ground. We are proud of this partnership.”
Although the club officially opens in October, performances will actually begin on Sept. 24, with Latin jazz duo The Rodriguez Brothers taking to the stage.
The club will be open from 7pm-2am on weekdays and 7pm-3am on weekends, with live jazz performed from 9pm-2am every night.
