UN report ranks UAE happiest country in Gulf, Qatar trails behind
The United Nations has launched its first “World Happiness Report”, ranking northern European countries among the happiest globally, and putting neighboring UAE in 17th place, the highest-ranked Gulf country.
Saudi Arabia, in 26th place, also ranked ahead of Qatar, which took 29th on the index, while Kuwait followed in 31st place.
Amongst the considerations for the index were wealth, but also political freedom, social connections and levels of corruption.
