Football fans can now buy tickets to the much-anticipated friendly match in Doha between top clubs Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain. The game will be held at Khalifa Stadium on Al Wabb St. on Jan. 2, 2014, with the gates opening at 5:45pm.
UPDATE | Sunday, Dec. 15
QFA has announced that due to popular demand, tickets will now also be sold at Ooredoo stores in City Center and Villaggio malls, as well as Ooredoo’s headquarters near the Departures terminal of the Doha International Airport.
Ticket booth operating times are:
- Ooredoo City Center: Saturday to Thursday, 9:30am to 10pm;
- Ooredoo Villaggio Mall: Saturday to Thursday, 9:30am to 10pm;
- Ooredoo headquarters: Sunday to Thursday, 8am to 8pm.
Tickets are QR100, QR150 and QR300 (VIP). You can purchase them online (users will need to make a log-in), and either print them at home or pick them up at Khalifa Stadium’s box office, which is open from Dec. 31 to match day.
Tickets will also be on sale at Khalifa Stadium from Dec. 31 to Jan. 2, but are subject to availability.
According to QFA’s website, those who buy online will be required to present an ID card or passport at the box office to collect their tickets. However, someone can be authorized on the purchaser’s behalf to pick them up.
PSG, France’s reigning champions, is owned by Qatar Sport Investments (a subsidiary of Qatar Investment Authority). The team will head to Doha before Real Madrid – as it did the two preceding seasons – for a training camp at Aspire Zone until Jan. 3, 2014.
This will be the second friendly match that the two teams will play. Previously, PSG and Real Madrid – the richest, most successful and third most popular club in the world – faced off last July in Sweden.
The game will be organized by the Qatar Football Association (QFA) as part of a recently announced partnership between Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and PSG, to promote the country as an attractive tourist destination.
