The Syrian National Coalition will soon fly the flag of the revolution over the Syrian embassy in Doha, the group has said in a statement.
According to the SNC, Qatar has decided to hand the embassy over to the SNC, which has appointed Nizar al-Haraki, 51, an electrical engineer from the province of Daraa, as the new ambassador.
AFPÂ reports:
“Qatar has acted faster than the Friends of Syria coalition,” the opposition statement said, in reference to a string of Western and Arab states, along with Turkey, which support the revolt against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad…
The Coalition in November named ambassadors to Paris and London but neither France nor Britain have yet handed over embassy buildings to the opposition.
Just this week, Qatar’s prime minister condemned Bashar Al Assad’s regime in Syria during a meeting in Kuwait, saying:
“Thousands of innocents are killed with tanks and airplanes; children are left homeless and women are widowed and tents are filling with refugees and all of this is for what? So that one person can remain in power.”
