SCH: Don’t drink bottled water that has been left in the car
The Supreme Council of Health is advising Qatar residents not to drink bottled water that has been heated to high temperatures, like the plastic bottles left in cars during the summer.
Gulf Times reports:
Though bottled water containers and bottles are made of a special kind of plastic called PET, which is safe for use in food and water items, it might leach out some undesirable and harmful chemicals when subjected to excessive heat,” SCH said in a statement…
Referring to the reader’s suggestion of replacing the plastic bottles with glass ones, the SCH said though it is a good idea as it cuts the worries about plastic products, unfortunately the glass bottles will be infeasible and impractical as 5-gallon containers as they are more fragile, risky and also costly.
Thoughts?
