Due to ongoing work on the Doha Metro, the Rumailah underpass inside of the Hamad Hospital complex will be closed for the next three years, Qatar Rail has announced.
The closure will take effect on Friday, April 18 and run through October of 2017, and diversions will be set up to facilitate traffic.

HMC is a stop on the Doha Metro’s Phase 1 Green Line route, which runs east-west and is expected to offiically open in 2019.
That line starts at Al Rayyan Stadium and briefly runs at ground level before descending into a tunnel below the Dukhan Highway, which turns into Al Luqta Street as it passes Education City.
After stopping at the under-construction Qatar National Library, the Green Line turns south at Huwar Street. It turns east at Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street, crosses under the Doha Expressway and then runs alongside Al Rayyan Road. It arches north as it crosses the Hamad Medical Center before turning almost due south into Msheireb.
Thoughts?
Another example of an ill thought out Doha initiative combining a lack of notice with a proposed end date that will never be made.
And of course it will be the fault of a non Qatari supplier…
Please try to do better, Qatar deserves it
It’s already a traffic nightmare around this area I didn’t think it could get worse but it just did!
Everytime I have used the underpass connecting Hamad Hospital with Rumeilah its been completely empty, somewhat eerie even. They are not closing the Ahmed bin Ali underpass though are they?
No my mistake. Informed only today that I got the wrong underpass.
This article piqued my curiosity, so I went to check out the Qatar Rail website. Epic fail. They used a trial version of software and the trial has expired.
