Taking the title from Dubai, Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) has become the highest ranked financial center in the Middle East, according to the Global Financial Centre Index produced by London think-tank Z/Yen.
Although QFC actually maintained its rank at 30th of 75 centres, Dubai dropped 8 spots since the last report.
Worth noting also, Qatar Financial Centre Authority sponsored the Z/Yen report.

On a related note, Qatar’s Minister of Economy and Finance was awarded “Best Finance Minister in the Middle East and North Africa 2011” by Euromoney Emerging Markets. The award is meant to recognize leading policymakers.
