Qatar Petroleum and local utility Qatar Electricity and Water Co. are teaming up to form a joint venture that will eventually generate 1,000 megawatts of power, Reuters reported.

That’s roughly enough energy to power 164,000 average homes by US standards and is the latest renewable energy target set by local officials. In 2014, plans were announced to generate 200 megawatts by 2020, but no update on that project has been provided.
