Report: Price of produce tumbles in Qatar
The price of fruits and vegetables have fallen considerably in the past year, according to a newly released report from the Consumer Protection Department at Qatar’s Ministry of Business and Trade.Â
The cost of vegetables are an average of 16 percent less than last November, while the price of fruit has fallen some 6 percent, the CPD said.
The Peninsula reports:
The trends indicate that the prices have become stable in the market, claimed the report.
The CPD imposed a price cap earlier this year in response to a public demand to control the high prices of fruits and vegetable in the market. Prices of the perishables are now controlled by a daily price list issued by the Department.
According to the article, the drop appears to apply mainly to produce coming in from Arab countries, while prices of Chinese apple, bananas from Philippines, etc remained unchanged.
