Report: Majority of Qatar’s government employees still on holiday
Though the official 12-day Eid holidays for government employees came to an end on Tuesday, the vast majority of those working in the public sector continue to be on vacation, local media reports.
Some 70 percent of employees have not returned to work because many are abroad with their families, Al Sharq states.
They will likely return before the official school year starts on Sept. 9, the daily added.
The Peninsula reports:
(Employee) Mohammed Al Hajri said it is normal around the world that there is an increased activity after a long vacation but what happens in Qatar is quite different since the first day of work falls on Wednesday that they felt a sense of mid-week boredom.
He, however, warned government workers that they are duty-bound to perform their tasks and there are transactions that need to be completed for their clients.
