Report: Expat jailed, deported for confiscating QDC alcohol purchase
A Doha court has sentenced an expat male to three years in prison for stealing alcohol and impersonating a police officer, Al Sharq reports. He is to be deported after serving his sentence.
According to the newspaper, the man posed as a police officer and pulled a woman over as she departed QDC – the only place in Qatar to legally buy alcohol for home consumption. After he took her bottles, she filed a complaint with the Mesaimeer police.
The Peninsula translates:
After receiving the complaint, the police laid a trap and arrested the man and referred him to the authorities concerned for legal action.Â
The daily said incidents involving young men impersonating as policemen are on the rise. Such a person was arrested once because the victim showed presence of mind and took the photograph of the impersonator using his mobile phone camera.Â
