Many in Doha woke up depressed this morning as strong winds, high waves and sandstorm-esque conditions scrapped hopes of outdoor activity this weekend.
The 41C heat, combined with humidity, has simply added insult to injury, some said.

Witnesses say traffic came to a standstill outside City Center Mall after the adjacent road was shut down, apparently due to fallen glass panes. Â
UPDATE | 3pm
A 10-car accident occurred on Al Khor due to low visibility, and parts of the road (from Onaiza Roundabout to Al Khor) have been been closed, according to the Ministry of Interior on Twitter. MOI is also advising residents not to drive unless it’s necessary.

According to the Qatar Meteorology Department, the wind and reduced visibility will last all week.
