275 essential items will be sold at discounted prices from Wednesday until Eid, reports The Peninsula.
The government fixes prices on household basics during the holy month to avoid retailers cashing in on increased demand.
Wholesalers have been given until today to start selling the goods to retailers at the new rates.Â
Prices will be reduced by between 10 to 15 percent.
Items on the list include milk, rice, orange juice, frozen chicken, cheese, flour, foil and tissues.
Stores are already reporting a “Ramadan rush” without price discounts, with some customers complaining about waiting up to 30 minutes in line to pay for their goods, Gulf Times reports.
