Qatar’s water usage ‘highest in the world’ per capita
National utility company Kahramaa says Qatar may have the highest rate of water consumption per person in the world, at 430 liters a day.
That rate will only continue to grow in the next couple of years, the Gulf Times quotes Kahramaa President Issa Hilal al-Kuwari as saying.
It’s yet another superlative to add to the list, alongside world’s highest per capita carbon footprint and world’s richest country per capita.
What do you think? Can the rate be chalked up to poor conservation practices? Or are broader projects, like desert irrigation, responsible for the high rate?
