Qatar has condemned Israeli settler attacks on Palestinian villages in the occupied West Bank, accusing Israel of enabling the violence and calling for urgent international action.

Qatar has strongly condemned a wave of Israeli settler attacks on Palestinian villages across the occupied West Bank, describing them as a continuation of Israeli policies aimed at escalating violence against Palestinians.

In a statement on Saturday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the attacks constituted a flagrant violation of international law and international resolutions.

The ministry said the violence reflected the Israeli government’s policy of enabling settlers to commit further attacks under the protection of the Israeli military and security forces.

It called on Israel to fulfil its obligations under international and humanitarian law, bring an end to settler violence and hold those responsible to account.

The condemnation came amid a surge in violence across the occupied West Bank, where Israeli settlers have attacked several Palestinian communities in the Nablus governorate, setting fire to homes and other property.

The attacks followed a shooting near the illegal Havat Gilad settlement on Friday that left four Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers dead.

Israeli forces subsequently launched what the military described as an “extensive” operation across Palestinian villages, arresting nearly 50 people in the village of Tal, southwest of Nablus, and raiding dozens of homes.

Footage from the area showed armed settlers confronting Palestinians, while witnesses said settlers had attacked Tal and surrounding communities.

The Palestinian Health Ministry says at least 87 Palestinians have been killed by Israelis in the occupied West Bank since the beginning of the year, including 21 killed by settlers.

UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese described the latest attacks as “pogroms” against Palestinian civilians and called for an immediate arms embargo and a halt to trade with Israel.

Israeli human rights groups have also warned that settler violence has become increasingly systematic and is frequently carried out with impunity.

Qatar urged the international community to act immediately to stop repeated Israeli attacks, protect Palestinians and ensure those responsible are held accountable.

The ministry also reaffirmed Qatar’s support for the Palestinian cause and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
