Qatar’s two telecom operators have tied up with a Norway company to bring residents one step closer to being able to switch providers without losing their mobile numbers, Qtel and Vodafone have announced.
Systor Group will serve as a technology partner for the much-awaited service, which ictQatar had said was taking longer to establish than had originally hoped.
Number portability was supposed to be offered in Qatar by the end of last year, and was then pushed back to this summer.
Now the telecom providers are saying they hope the service will be ready for offer by the end of this year.
