A new entertainment complex for single workers is set to open in the Industrial Area soon, according to local media reports.
The facilities, which include several eateries, a cricket stadium and a movie theater, has been constructed in anticipation of an influx of workers to the area, as many are shifting there following last year’s bachelor ban in Doha’s residential areas.
The Peninsula reports:
The project will also help lessen the influx of single workers coming to the city on weekends, especially once the residential ban is fully implemented.
This is also expected reduce the number of single workers flocking around the souq areas in Doha, during weekends, as all the shopping, recreational and entertainment facilities will be available in the complex, (Al Sharq) said.
Previously, commenters have criticized ”self-contained” townships designed to keep workers from frequenting Doha as a form of apartheid.
Other have said there’s nothing wrong with wanting to keep an influx of single men out of family areas.
