Indian expats in Qatar have expressed dismay at Qatar’s decision to pull Raaz 3, a much-awaited 3D Bollywood erotic horror film, from theaters.
The movie, which involves a forgotten actress who uses witchcraft to best a younger rival, was scheduled to start screening on Friday, according to Qatar Cinemas listings.
But movie-goers who arrived to watch the film at Gulf Cinema yesterday found that it was not playing after all.
In a post on Qatar Cinema’s Facebook page, Adeem Sartaj complains:
your Website showed that RAAZ 3 will be shown at 2:15 on Thursday and i invited a few friends all the way from Al-khor and when we reached there the show was cancelled and nobody even thought of informing…
An employee at Gulf Cinema told Doha News that the movie, whose slot has been replaced by Hindi film “Joker,” has been banned in Qatar.
Elsewhere in the region, the UAE is “reviewing” whether to screen the film, Gulf News reports:
The film’s producer Mahesh Bhatt expressed disappointment but said he was willing to re-submit another version of the film and also remove the objectionable portions.
“I have just been told from sources that they are objecting to some adult content in the film. We are willing to re-submit another version this week so that the viewers get to watch the film in the theatres there,” Bhatt told tabloid.
The daily also reported that Kuwait had banned the movie from theaters.
