Four Qatar expats have been sentenced to 10 years in jail and deportation after being found guilty of attempted robbery.
The Pakistani men were arrested after crashing into a money exchange truck in January and stealing QR1.2 million from it.
Officers tracked down one of the defendants as he was trying to leave the country, and arrested him earlier this year at the airport.
The man then apparently confessed to the crime and told police about his co-conspirators.
Witnesses
AÂ judge read out the verdict on Thursday, but offered no other details.
However, during a previous court session this month, witnesses testified regarding the case.
One of them was the driver of the Habib Qatar International Exchange truck, who said that the crime occurred shortly after he left his office in the Industrial Area.
He said that a car forced him off the road, and then two men stole a bag of money from the back.
As they drove off in a Nissan, the driver noted down the license plate and reported it to police. He also later identified two of the defendants while in court.
The men will likely appeal their conviction.
