Citing strong undercurrents and an uneven seabed, a Qatar Coast Guard official has advised residents to steer clear of Ras Abu Fantas beach in Wakrah, where three brothers drowned over the weekend.

The official’s comments come on the heels of complaints from Wakrah residents that no signage about the danger of swimming has been erected in that area.

It is thought that a whirlpool pulled the three boys, who were swimming around 6pm on Saturday, underwater.
