Qatar Airways to launch regular flights to the Libyan city of Benghazi come Nov. 1
Benghazi is the second-largest city in Libya and served as the provisional capital of the country’s new rulers, the National Transitional Council (NTC), which ousted longtime leader Muammar Gaddafi.
Qatar Airways says it will fly to Benghazi four times a week nonstop. Interestingly, QA flights to Tripoli remain suspended after being halted in February due to unrest in the country.
The Qatari government was a staunch supporter of the Libyan uprising against Gaddafi, offering financial and military support to the NTC.
