Nearly 1.77 million passengers arrived, departed or transferred through Hamad International Airport in February, according to Qatar’s Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics. That’s almost 281,000 more than in February 2015.
The airport is already operating beyond its designed capacity of 30 million passengers annually. This has coincided with long lineups at immigration counters that the head of Qatar Airways has blamed on staff shortages. Expansion plans are underway to increase the airport’s capacity.
