Ahead of the upcoming Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF), co-host Qatar Airways has launched an international competition to win a flight and hotel stay in Doha.
Under the “Plate your nation” campaign, participants are urged to create a representation of a national flag using edible materials, and then send it to Qatar Airways via Twitter, Facebook or Instagram using the hashtags #QIFF2016 and #GoingPlacesTogether.
The contest appears to be inspired by a similar campaign that an ad agency put together ahead of the Sydney International Food Festival in 2011. Here are some of WHYBINTBWA’s examples:
The deadline to enter is March 7, and the winner will be announced on March 10. The person who is chosen will win a return trip to Doha for two people during the food festival and a three-night stay at the Marsa Malaz Kempinski on the Pearl-Qatar.
A spokesperson told Doha News that people in Qatar are not eligible to enter the contest, backtracking on a previous statement to the contrary.
The food festival runs from March 22-28 this year, and will be held at the Museum of Islamic Art park as well as Katara and the Pearl.
