The annual Al Khor Fly-In kicked off for the ninth time yesterday with a number of aircraft on display, as well as acrobatic and drone formation flying shows.
The two-day event was organized by the Civil Aviation Authority and Qatar Flying Club, and opened by the minister of the newly formed Ministry of Transport and Communication Jassim Bin Saif Al Sulaiti at the Al Khor Air Field.
Speaking to Doha News, an airport representative said poor weather conditions made it difficult to bring in more aircraft, causing the fly-in to have fewer offerings than expected.
However, many attendees appeared to enjoy craning their necks and taking in the shows. Other offerings include also a children’s play area, video games and food for sale.
Speaking to Doha News, Tunisian expat Hajer said she she drove all the way from West Bay to watch the shows:
“I saw some beautiful planes today and liked the food. We took some selfies also with planes exhibited here. There was a Ferrari helicopter which I liked the most.”
The fly-in is open today from 8am to 5pm. More information about its offerings and directions to the venue can be found online here.
