There are a lot of popular spots in Qatar for young men to engage in the dangerous past-time of stunt driving.
Police have been cracking down on the practice, conducting surprise raids and impounding cars of drivers found to be drifting, skiing and performing other stunts.

However, the practice persists. Photographer Ameer Abdul Razak captured these shots at sunset over the weekend in the northern part of the country.
He told Doha News: “It’s a place free from (the) crowd, calm and quiet, in the middle of a desert highway.”
Thoughts?
Note: The headline has been corrected to reflect that the photo was taken near Zubarah, not Zikreet.
Usually there is a smashed-up Land Cruiser or two near these spots.
I Think Drifts are normal for GULF Youngsters specially for Saudis check “Saudi drifts” on YouTube
“Normal” just highlights how widespread the stupidity is. Life is precious. Blatantly disregarding it in this way is a sin.
Not that precious since there are 7 billion of us on this over-populated world…
It is like killing urself as an hobby
Brings back memories of the sounds and the smell of burning rubber… and a concentration of stupidity…
“…a concentration of stupidity…” What a very useful turn of phrase. I can think of many uses for it. Thank you.
As in my view you will never stop this why not open a dedicated drifting venue with drifting course etc and include safety measures. Make the venue somewhere these people want to go to but in a safe environment.
Both QMMF and QRC have such venues in Losail Circuit and the Drag Strip, plus the Qatar Mile events at Al Khor Airfield, but these people aren’t interested in these events, whether they can’t show off to their friends, the additional risks of performing on the highway, or simply that they don’t want to compete in case they don’t come first.
You do not have to drive all the way to Zubarah to take such pictures
