Across Qatar, tens of thousands of people have been out making the most of National Sport Day – heading not only to major venues like Katara Cultural Village and the Corniche, but also to privately organized company events and smaller gatherings of friends and families.
That includes former first lady Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, chairperson of Qatar Foundation:

Here’s just a small selection of photos shared on Twitter today.

Shopping malls have been getting in on the act, too:

As this resident noted, the weather outside is perfect for a day out in the sunshine:

However, the combination of gorgeous weather and a national holiday has led to traffic issues around popular destinations.
We spotted long jams at Katara this morning, and it seems traffic around the Aspire Zone is also slow:

Not everyone’s chosen to head outside today, however – some residents have taken the opportunity to kick back and relax instead.
