On a whim this month, a local resident decided to snap some photos of northern Qatar, which looks just about as dry and dusty as the rest of the country this time of year.

For good measure, @7amadS2 on Twitter juxtaposed the recent photos with ones he took at the same locations in January, where everything looked lush and green.

Do these shots make anyone want to start a countdown to winter? Thoughts?
