Much to the disappointment of those hanging out in Doha this summer, Qatar Tourism Authority is not planning to hold a summer festival this year, local newspapers are reporting.

The festival’s usual venue, the Qatar Exhibition Centre, will be undergoing renovations this summer. 

But that doesn’t mean QTA should scrap plans to hold the popular event, fans argue. The Peninsula reports:

There is no dearth of good locations in Doha where the summer festival can be easily held. There are huge malls and cultural clubs and centres and long beaches where the event can be held, several citizens said.

For those who can’t get away from Qatar over the long summer months, the festival did bring a bit of air-conditioned cheer into the world.
