Six new restaurants and kiosks will open at The Hotel Park in front of Doha’s Sheraton Grand Hotel by the end of this year, Katara Hospitality has said.
The first place to open will be a casual dining Lebanese restaurant in October.
It will be situated in a sunken garden site near the children’s playground, a Katara Hospitality spokesperson told Doha News this week.
After that, five more eateries that sell Arabic-inspired and international cuisine will open across the city-center park within months.
“Food and beverage venues within the Hotel Park will offer a unique blend of eateries, serving as destinations for casual family dining and quick lunch breaks for the various companies within the West Bay district,” Katara Hospitality said in a statement.
Tenders
This week, park operators invited local small and medium-sized enterprises to apply to install, lease and run the kiosks. They will range in size from 16 sq meters to 1,000 sq meters and should open by December.
The deadline for applications closed Aug. 18Â and the successful candidates will be selected by the end of this month.
The food stalls and restaurants will likely be welcomed by residents.
Especially as the weather cools, the options will encourage more visitors to check out Doha’s newest green space.
The 90,000 sq meter park at the northern end of the Corniche opened to the public in January and its water features and children’s play ground have helped make it a popular destination for families.
There is also an underground pay for parking car park with spaces for 2,500 vehicles.
Do you plan to check them out? Thoughts?
