Rains have been falling in the northern part of Qatar intermittently over the past week, but this is only the second time in a decade that Doha has seen precipitation in September.
According to Steff Gaulter, senior meteorologist for Al Jazeera English, the last time Doha saw rain in September was 2012, at the end of the month.
Warning
The Qatar Meteorology Department (MET) has warned motorists to drive especially carefully as increasing winds are kicking up dust and leading to low visibility.
