The Doha Municipality has ordered the meat section of Carrefour at Landmark Mall closed for health and hygiene regulations, a customer service representative has confirmed to Doha News.
She added that the store has “no idea” when it will reopen.
Local news outlets originally reported earlier this week that a “prominent store” at Landmark had closed its meat section after inspectors found numerous irregularities there.
The Peninsula reports that “an ice cream manufacturing unit is among several facilities, including an eatery and a hotel kitchen,” that were also shut down during some 650 inspections in Doha this Ramadan.
The report added:
In addition, some 85 other outlets, including eateries, butcheries and foodstuff selling shops, have been issued stern warnings to comply with health and safety rules or face the music.
Carrefours across Doha have not always been up to health code.
Late last year, the government shuttered the grocery store’s produce section at Villaggio Mall. In 2008, there was a rat sighting at the same Carrefour in the meat section:

Noticed any possible health violations around town?
The Municipality accepts complaints via phone at 8005000 from 8am to 6pm and 8pm to 12 midnight during Ramadan.
