During her visit, Minister Al-Khater met with Lebanese Minister of Education Dr Rima Karami and senior officials from the Ministry of Education
Qatar’s Minister of Education and Higher Education, Lolwah Al Khater, visited Lebanon on Wednesday to explore avenues for collaboration in education, research, and cultural exchange—marking a key step toward strengthening bilateral ties in the academic sector.
During her visit, Minister Al-Khater met with Lebanese Minister of Education Dr Rima Karami and senior officials from the Ministry of Education. Discussions focused on curriculum development, educational innovation, and shared priorities in the academic field.
“I came today to emphasise the depth of relations between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Lebanon in various fields and at all levels,” Al-Khater stated, reaffirming Qatar’s support for Lebanon’s educational and cultural development.
She also praised Lebanon’s academic legacy, highlighting its distinguished universities and longstanding contributions to Arab scientific and cultural life. Emphasising the significance of language in education, Al-Khater called for greater attention to Arabic language instruction across institutions.
Dr Karami expressed enthusiasm for future collaboration, noting, “We discovered that we are on a common path in terms of educational thinking and development—across all levels, from pre-university to higher education”.
Both ministers also acknowledged the importance of mental health support in schools, commending Lebanon’s initiatives to prioritise student well-being.
Al-Khater’s visit aligns with Qatar’s broader efforts to foster educational and cultural cooperation across the Arab world, especially in supporting Lebanon’s post-crisis recovery. The collaboration aims to blend Qatar’s robust educational infrastructure with Lebanon’s rich academic heritage, fostering joint progress in curriculum reform, scientific research, and university-level exchanges.
“I look forward to further cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Lebanon in all fields, especially in education and research,” Al-Khater concluded
