The government has announced that it is introducing lifeguards and ambulances at four of Qatar’s beaches during weekends and holidays, according to the Gulf Times.
The beaches in Wakra, Semaisima, Al-Farkiya in Al-Khor and Al-Kharayij in Umm Baab will all have an on-site ambulance, first aiders from the Qatar Red Crescent, lifeguards and security staff during these busy times.
The announcement follows the deaths of three Iranian siblings who drowned off the coast near Ras Abu Fontas earlier this month.  Arabic daily Al Raya reported after the accident that the area was known to be dangerous, but that there were no signs warning of the danger.
What else would you like to see done to improve safety on Qatar’s beaches?
