Israeli defence firms have been barred from the Dubai Air Show following Israel’s Gaza war and its recent attack on Doha, Bloomberg reported.
Israeli defence companies have been barred from participating in the upcoming Dubai Air Show amid heightened regional tensions, Bloomberg has reported.
Organisers of the biennial event sent letters to several Israeli firms informing them they would not be allowed to exhibit at the November show, according to senior officials who spoke to Bloomberg on condition of anonymity.
Israeli media also reported that a notice was delivered to Israel’s defence ministry, citing a confirmation by an Israeli defence ministry spokesperson to The Times of Israel.
Bloomberg said the ban was communicated in writing to the companies, though event organisers have not issued a public statement.
“The letter cited alleged shortfalls in the firms’ professional qualifications and was dated September 9, the day of the Doha strike,” one official told Bloomberg, adding that organisers had already signalled informally their intention to bar Israel from the event.
The decision follows growing anger across the Gulf over Israel’s genocide in Gaza and its recent attack on Qatar, which targeted the Hamas political bureau in Doha and killed six people, including an officer in Qatar’s Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya).
The strike marked the first time Israeli forces carried out a military operation inside Qatari territory.
Qatar condemned the assault as a violation of its sovereignty and called for an emergency Arab League session.
The Dubai Air Show is one of the world’s largest aviation and defence exhibitions and has featured Israeli participation in recent editions, particularly after the normalisation of ties under the 2020 Abraham Accords. Israeli firms such as Elbit Systems and Israel Aerospace Industries have previously showcased their technology at the event.
As of Thursday, the list of approved exhibitors on the air show’s official website does not include any Israeli companies.
