Five years after the launch of ictQatar, Qatar has been ranked third in the world for ICT government readiness, according to a 2009-2010 report from the World Economic Forum.
Qatar aims to stay on top of ICT developments in the coming five years with a comprehensive plan, as outlined in ictQatar’s new annual report.
In the report, Dr. Hessa Sultan Al-Jaber, ictQatar’s secretary general, highlights the organization’s key goals:
We will lead efforts to improve access to informationand increase effectiveness of public services. We will also guarantee the rollout and installation of a national, affordable, high-speed broadband network. We will work toward developing an innovative and entrepreneurial market and increase the quantity of content on the Internet –Â including Arabic, newly digitized, and other local material. And we will enhance the digital literacy and skills of all members of society.
