Five years after the launch of ictQatar, Qatar has been ranked third in the world for ICT government readiness, according to a 2009-2010 report from the World Economic Forum.

Qatar aims to stay on top of ICT developments in the coming five years with a comprehensive plan, as outlined in ictQatar’s new annual report.

In the report, Dr. Hessa Sultan Al-Jaber, ictQatar’s secretary general, highlights the organization’s key goals:

We will lead efforts to improve access to informationand increase effectiveness of public services. We will also guarantee the rollout and installation of a national, affordable, high-speed broadband network. We will work toward developing an innovative and entrepreneurial market and increase the quantity of content on the Internet – including Arabic, newly digitized, and other local material. And we will enhance the digital literacy and skills of all members of society.
