It was a misty morning for many motorists in Qatar today, as residents fought slower-than-usual traffic due to the presence of thick fog.
Authorities cautioned commuters to proceed carefully on the roads due to decreased visibility. According to the Qatar Meteorology Department, an increase in humidity caused the dense fog:

While on the roads, motorists should not to use their hazard lights, and instead rely on the fog lights that their vehicles are equipped with, officials said.
The Ministry of Interior added:
If the fog is too dense to continue, pull completely off the road and try to park your vehicle in a safe parking area. #Qatar #MoI_Qatar

Fog is not an unusual occurrence this time of the year, due to the combination of colder air from the early mornings colliding with warmer air as the sun rises. So, expect to see more foggy mornings this month!
On the bright side, Hamad International Airport is operating normally, with no reported flight delays.
Here’s a roundup of reactions from commuters this morning:
Thoughts?
The idiots were out in force on the Al Shamal highway, speeding and weaving in and out of cars, flashing lights, business as usual, even though visibility was down to less than 100m. Didn’t see any unmarked police vehicles, just one traffic police car which was cut up on a roundabout and ignored it.
“Didn’t see any unmarked police vehicles” That’s odd.
I didn’t see any police officers in unmarked vehicles, nor any unmarked vehicles reacting to the recklessly dangerous stunts being vehicles.
You would not have identified the fleet of “unmarked” LCs and Patrols…they are “unmarked” with a purpose 🙂
Taking pictures of the fog while driving. What could go wrong?
it was easy to reach for hazards during fog, right ?
it’s even easier to use indicators before switching lanes or turning !
is it too hard?
Can people please tell me why idiots turn on their hazard lights in fog. Indicators don’t work with them on and secondly thats what fog lights are for!
they believe that fog lights should be yellow
and hazards are kinda yellowish
regarding vehicle’s fog lights, they are now used by some cool-wannabe Dudes who think it is cute while headlights are off at night !
my hazard lights are pretty swag
Most cars, even late models, don’t have fog lights. I use hazard lights cos I don’t fancy a big LC up my backside.
Pete, you say most cars but I have never owned a car without fog lights. Every Toyota we ever sold had fog lights although it was a different part of the world. Can I ask what your car is out of interest?
I have a 2009 top of the range Outlander. My wife has a top of the range 2012 Qashqai. They both have fog lights but they are non functional in GCC specs. In South Africa, where I come, from the same situation. I guess it’s because fog is rare, here and in SA.
If an LC wants to crash up your backside due to reckless driving, he is going to do it with or without your fog lights on. Probably when you are changing lanes with the hazard lights.
It’s probably cause these idiots don’t use their indicators otherwise as well.
Whats with Doha residents and Fog?? All the excitement about reduced visibility in a country where the highest mortality rate is due to traffic accidents. Wow. We’d rather not have it anymore.
i love the fog because it makes it harder to see your negatvitiy
Didn’t mean to offend my friend, just mentioned the truth.
It’s all good lol 🙂
Loads of belters on the roads with hazards on and not even their lights. Where did this idea come from?
Lack of awareness, they are using hazard lights cuz they think it is a” common sense” since everyone else is doing it. Thus, I don’t blame them. I would recommended MOI or OredO to send SMS brief guidelines ” at least”
Yeah, monkey see monkey do.
I remember the traffic police putting out some posters and warnings not to use hazard light on a moving vehicle the last year or the year before.
Imagine if it would snow here…there won’t be anyone on the streets 😛
